How does one reconcile the eating of meat with such an ancient culture of the Indian who consider the cow sacred?

Well, not eating cow and horse was related to ayurveda and some Hindu believes derived from other vedas like
1. We become what we eat.
2. We receive feeling of the kill animal when we eat it.
3. Cow gets emotionally attached to its owner.
4. The feeling of dying cow is not good for our energy flow (chakra)
5. Cow is more useful when alive than dead because we use its dunk and milk in ayurvedic medicines.
And so on.
However with the industrialization, influence of foreign culture, and science, we have started neglecting the teachings of Vedas.
Personally, being Indian I have never read Vedas. Even our education doesn’t include them. Even we were never taught about yoga in our school. We have learned about its significance and its value when we left India.
Finally, I would like to say unless people are taught why we should not eat meat, with solid explaination, the number of nonvegetarian will increase.
